6 Ways To Find Peace Of Mind Right Now

Peace of mind can sometimes be an elusive pursuit that seems impossible.

For many people, they strive to achieve high goals or great accomplishments. While there is nothing wrong with this, achieving your goals can come at a cost. You may sacrifice other areas of your life in order to achieve these goals. It’s easy to get lost in our daily routine where we feel as though we are constantly working hard towards something instead of enjoying the present moment.

So much in our world is uncertain. The future is uncertain, and the past can seem like an eternity ago with all the regrets we have. I’m challenging you to take six steps over the next several weeks to find peace of mind in an often chaotic and uncertain world.

Do not worry about what you cannot control

When we worry, we tend to focus on things we have no control over. And while it’s a natural human reaction, it is also a very unhealthy one that can lead to stress and anxiety.

If you’ve ever found yourself worrying about something unimportant or out of your control, take a step back and ask yourself if there’s anything you can do about it. If not, let go and move on with your life.

Take care of your body and mind

Finding peace of mind is easier when your body is healthy and your mind is clear. If you’re feeling stressed out or anxious, it might be time for a break from work or school. Take a few deep breaths and meditate for a few minutes each day. Exercise can also help relieve stress, improve your mood and boost energy levels.

Don’t feel guilty about doing things for yourself

We’re all so busy. We have to work, we have to make dinner, we have to take care of the kids. And then we have to find time to do something for ourselves.

Sometimes that means making time in the middle of the day, or sneaking away at night. Sometimes it means asking friends and family members to help out so that you can take a break or go on a date with your significant other.

Even if it’s just taking a walk around the block, it’s important that you remember that you’re allowed to do things for yourself.

Practice mindfulness and meditation, even just for a couple of minutes at a time

Meditation is about learning to be present in the moment and accepting what’s happening around you, rather than constantly trying to change everything around you. That’s an important skill in today’s world where so many people are constantly multitasking and trying to control everything around them.

If you’re dealing with stress or anxiety, meditation can help reduce symptoms by teaching your brain that there’s no need to panic because everything will be okay. This can help create peace of mind. And if your stress is caused by something going on in your life right now (like a big project), then meditation can help you deal with that situation better by helping you focus on what needs doing right now instead of worrying about everything else happening later down the road.

Set healthy boundaries when engaged in conflict with others

Healthy boundaries are those we set for ourselves based on our values and beliefs, not the needs or opinions of others. They help us establish our own sense of self-worth and identity apart from what others think about us. Set boundaries with people who don’t respect them, and you’ll feel better about yourself.

Give up negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations

Negative self-talk is often characterized by words such as “never,” “always” and “should.” For example, you might say to yourself, “I never have enough money” or “I always have problems at work.” When we constantly tell ourselves these kinds of things, they can become an ingrained habit that leads us to expect bad things to happen again and again in our lives! Positive affirmations are statements that communicate clearly what we want to achieve and how we plan to get there. Saying positive affirmations can help even more develop a positive peace of mind.

Takeaway: People can find peace of mind if they are willing to do things that support it

12 Simple And Totally Weird Confidence Building Exercises

Do you really need confidence building exercises?

Some people seem to be born with a high level of confidence, but for the rest of us, it’s something that must be earned and constantly developed. When you start thinking negatively about yourself, it’s hard to convince yourself otherwise.

You need to go beyond positive thinking and really believe that what you’re saying is true. If you aren’t sure how to get started with this, consider working through these 12 simple activities.

Compliment a stranger

It might feel awkward, but it will make you feel good. When people hear compliments, it makes them feel good about themselves and about the world around them. You never know where your compliment may go; it could end up back in your lap! This is one of the most fun confidence building exercises.

Stand up straight

Stand up straight and tall with your shoulders back. Hold this position for a few seconds. Let go, relax and repeat. Of the confidence building exercises, this one will help you feel more confident because it makes you feel like you’re on top of things.

Talk to yourself

When we’re alone, it’s easy to talk to ourselves. We may think that talking to ourselves is a sign of being crazy, but there are many benefits of talking to yourself. This may sound like one of the weirder confidence building exercises.

When you talk about your problems and concerns with yourself, you can find solutions for them easily. You can’t solve a problem until you know what it is and have identified the root cause. When we talk about our problems with others, they give us suggestions or advice that doesn’t always help us solve our problems.

Talking to yourself gives you an opportunity to analyze your situation from different perspectives and come up with unique solutions that would never occur to anyone else.

Make eye contact with people you make purchases from or talk to throughout the day (barista, cashier, etc)

It’s an easy way to start small and build up your confidence. The first time I did this I was surprised at how many people looked away as soon as they saw me looking at them! It was kind of embarrassing but also helped me realize that people aren’t always looking at you because they hate you — it’s just human nature.

Call a business and ask to speak to someone you admire

This one is totally easy and one of the most surprisingly effective confidence building exercises. Find someone who inspires you and call their office. Tell them who you are, what you do, and ask if they would be willing to meet up over coffee or drinks sometime soon. Even if they say no, this exercise is great for building confidence because it teaches us that rejection isn’t scary — it’s just part of life. This exercise makes the top of the list of confidence building exercises.

Smile at everyone you see for an entire day

Smiling is one of the most powerful ways to boost your self-esteem and happiness. It also helps other people feel good, too! So when you smile at someone as they walk by on the street or in an elevator, they’re more likely to smile back at you and it creates a positive feedback loop. This positive feedback loop is an excellent addition to your confidence building exercises.

Listen to music that makes you happy and energetic

Music has an amazing power to influence moods and emotions. So crank up the tunes and dance around like nobody’s watching! This can be a great way to get yourself in the mood for an upcoming event where you want to feel confident and energized. Right before I defended my dissertation, I had a mini-dance party on Zoom with some friends!

Unfollow people on social media who make you feel bad about yourself

Social media can be a great way to stay connected with friends, but it also has the potential to make us feel like crap about ourselves. If you’re feeling down on yourself, take some time to unfollow people who post things that make you feel bad or insecure.

Wear a super confident outfit

Dress up in something that makes you feel good about yourself. The more comfortable you are, the more confident you’ll be.

Make a list of all your accomplishments

Write down all the things you’ve accomplished in life, whether it’s getting good grades or achieving a certain goal at work or school. Be sure to include big wins as well as small ones, because even if you don’t feel confident about yourself right now, there’s no doubt that you have some amazing qualities and abilities!

Do something small and silly to embarrass yourself on purpose

You’re going to do something small and silly to embarrass yourself on purpose.

You’re going to do it in front of a mirror, so you can see exactly how you look as you do it.

You’re going to make a fool of yourself and then laugh at yourself for doing so.

Why? Because we all want to be confident in our own skin. Sometimes, we get caught up in thinking about how others see us, instead of just being ourselves.

This exercise is designed to help you overcome that fear, and remind yourself that there’s nothing wrong with being who you are — even if it means making a fool of yourself every now and then!

Compliment yourself every day for a week

Start by looking in the mirror and saying something positive about yourself out loud. Then make a habit of doing this every morning and evening, no matter how hard it feels at first. It’s best if you begin with one-word compliments, such as “I’m smart” or “I’m funny”. Once you’ve gotten used to this exercise it’s time to go bigger! Try complimenting yourself on more than just one aspect of yourself each day until eventually, you’re confident enough to say nice things about all aspects of your personality.

Final thoughts on confidence building exercises

By consistently striving to improve yourself, or just small bits at a time, you will begin to feel better about yourself in the long run. You’ll have a better sense of who you are, and that is the first step toward becoming a better person. So what’s the next step? Start trying out some of these weird exercises to learn more about yourself and remember that no one else can do them for you.

5 Things to Focus on in the New Year: Self Love

Self love – This is part 2 in a 5 part series. Well, part 1 focused on time management and part 2 is focusing on self-love. As I looked back through my blog posts for the year, I realized I talked about self-care and building confidence, but I’m not sure I touched on self love and acceptance. Perhaps it’s because it’s still an area of improvement in my life. Something that doesn’t quite feel like I fully made it there yet.

But isn’t the journey more important than the destination?

So what if I never get to 100% self love and acceptance? That would be amazing and maybe I will, but figuring it out is just as important. Because if I’m always focusing on how I’m going to feel when I fully love and accept every piece of myself, then I can’t focus on fully loving who I am in this particular moment.

I always want to improve and become a better version of myself. We should strive to improve and grow as individuals to better for ourselves and the people around us. Ironically, putting myself out here into the digital world is helping me reach a more accepting and loving view of myself. My confidence is growing and I am realizing more and more each day that there is only one me in this world.

Self Love Goals for the New Year

  1. Start each day by looking in the mirror and saying one thing I love about myself
  2. Continue to say and write affirmations on a daily basis
  3. Reduce automatic negative thought patterns
  4. If someone gives me a compliment, accept it and do NOT downplay it
  5. Continuing aligning physical health and mental health

This is not a linear process, but it is a process that needs to happen. I encourage you to embark on your own self love and acceptance journey!

The Power of Manifestation: My Journey to Believing in Amazing Life Transformations

The power of manifestation has been on my mind in the last several months, I have been focusing on affirmations to improve my outlook and self-confidence and minimize related anxiety. This affirmation ritual has started to morph more into some exploration of manifesting the things that I desire to have in my life.

power of manifestation

I consider myself to be an optimistic realist when it comes to the power of manifestation. I live in a dream world of ambition and goals, yet consider the constraints of the reality in which I currently live. However, I’m starting to wonder how many of my constraints are a result of limiting beliefs about what is actually possible.

My journey thus far has primarily focused on watching YouTube videos and Tik Tok’s documenting how to manifest the things you want in your life. This self-reflection process is reminiscent of when I first read the Secret many years ago.

The power of manifestation is a personal process

But what I’m finding is that manifestation is a deeply personal and intentional process that can result in great abundance. Even a book I read this year, You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth, focused on the manifestation aspect of attracting wealth and money into your life. Although I remain skeptical of the ability of most people to actually invest the great amount of money she discusses into personal development and learning.

At the beginning of 2021, I very clearly set my intentions and goals for the year, and I’ve actually achieved about half of them already. So I truly do believe in the power of writing down your manifestations and goals. The part I’m continuing to improve on is the internal beliefs and any blocks I may have for receiving the manifestations coming my way. I attribute this to the realist side that tends to come from my anxiety.

Interestingly, I was listening to The Next Big Idea podcast this morning about self-deception and Shankar Vedantam said that people who have anxiety are actually able to see things more clearly than others. However, the premise of his book (which I have to add to my Goodreads list), is that self-deception can actually help us flourish.

Because I have an active mind for research and science, I’m interested in bridging these sources even more. What is the relationship between self-delusion and manifestation? Can I trick my brain into believing that I already have the things I’m manifesting?

Now, there are specific manifestation processes and routines relating to angel numbers and writing things down a certain number of times per day. I haven’t done that yet, but it might be worth a try to follow some of these very specific manifestation strategies and techniques and really tap into the power of manifestation. I will do some research and document my experience and share it with you in another post!

What is the difference between dreams and visions- 3 Important distinctions?

What is the difference between dreams and visions you ask? Dreams and visions are often confused as the same thing, but they are in fact very different. Knowing the difference between a dream and a vision is important for your personal development as well as your business. Dreams will never come true until they become a vision. Luckily, there are ways on how to turn dreams into visions. In this article, I will show you the differences between dreams and visions including the elements that differentiate them.

A dream is a strong fantasy whereas vision gives a clear direction

A dream is a strong fantasy, which may or may not come true. A vision is a clear direction for the future and it is backed by action.

A dream is a strong fantasy: You can always imagine something wonderful happening to you. For example, if you had a bad day at work, you might imagine that your boss comes to you and says, “You have done an excellent job and we are so happy with your performance. We want to give you a promotion!” Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen that way. It is just imagination and there has been no real effort on your part to make it happen in reality.

Vision gives a clear direction: Your vision for your life should be something bigger than yourself. It should also be something that gives meaning to your life as well as purpose – something that will help others as well as yourself.

Again, what is the difference between dreams and visions?

Dreams are based on wishes, desires, and emotions whereas visions are based on reality and specific goals

The main difference between dreams and visions is that dreams are based on wishes, desires, and emotions whereas visions are based on reality and specific goals.

Dreams are generally what we would like to happen, while visions are what we believe will happen.

When you dream, you let your mind wander through all the things that might happen if everything went right. You think about how great it would be if you had a new job or home, or even just went on vacation.

A dream can be a wishful thought or something that’s as simple as “I wish I could go to the Bahamas.” It’s an idea that seems impossible, but it’s still something that you hope for deep inside.

What is the difference between dreams and visions?

A vision is something that you have clear ideas about and specific steps toward achieving it. It involves setting goals and planning out how to achieve them. For example, if you had a vision for going to the Bahamas next year, you’d probably make plans for saving money throughout the year so that you could take time off work without having financial worries holding you back from going on vacation.

what is the difference between dreams and visions
Photo by Ylanite Koppens on Pexels.com

Dreamers spend their entire life trying to achieve their dreams whereas people with a vision don’t spend time achieving their vision because they are already living it

A dreamer is someone who dreams of a better life, but doesn’t do anything to make it happen. A dreamer is someone who has a vision of what they want to be and where they want to go, but they don’t have the will or drive to make it happen.

A dreamer spends their entire life trying to achieve their dreams whereas people with a vision don’t spend time achieving their vision because they are already living it.

People with a vision understand that you must take action in order for your dreams to become reality. They don’t wait for things to happen, they make things happen. They know what they want in life and they’re willing to work hard until they get it!

So, what is the difference between dreams and visions?

The difference between dreams and visions is action. When you dream, you are looking inward; when you have a vision, you are expressing it outward. Some people only see the world around them through their supposed limitations, but others look for opportunities to reach their full potential. To accomplish anything you need to take action.

Setting Realistic Goals Is The Key To Getting Important Things Done

Setting realistic goals: When most people think about goals, they think about vision boards and long-term objectives. It’s not a bad idea to have those things, but you also want to be realistic and set goals which are measurable. And often times, this means breaking it down into smaller goals and shorter timelines.

Focus on how you can connect with goals that are meaningful to you

The best way to set goals is to focus on the process of reaching them, not just the end result.

Most people set goals like this: “I want to lose weight.” But that’s a goal that may only ever be partially achieved. You’ll lose some weight, but it may not be all you want it to be. And once you’re at your desired weight, what will you do then?

Instead, it’s better to focus on how you can connect with your goal. For example, here are two different ways of thinking about losing weight:

I want to feel more energetic and healthy.” This is a goal that can be achieved by eating well and exercising regularly — no matter what size or shape you are. It’s something that will sustain itself over time because it’s not dependent on a certain number on the scale or an outfit fitting better in the closet (which are both external factors).

In order to go about setting realistic goals that matter and are achievable, it’s important to focus on what you can realistically achieve in the next three to six months. Here are some examples:

  • Ask for a raise at work
  • Improve your health by exercising more and eating better
  • Travel somewhere new with your friends and family

End with a plan for how you’ll get from where you are now to where you want to be

The process of goal-setting looks easy, but it’s not always easy to know how to develop a plan for setting realistic goals and achieving them. Here are some tips for developing your plan:

  • Break down each step into smaller tasks. For example, if one of your goals is to run a marathon by the end of 2022, what steps do you need to take? You might break this down into weekly training sessions and then monthly long runs so that there are milestones along the way.
  • Figure out how much time you need for each task on the path toward achieving your goal. If it takes two hours per week (and let’s say we’re talking about studying) then twelve weeks before test day equals twenty-four hours total—that’s enough time!

It may seem like a lot at first glance but once you’ve broken down everything else into smaller chunks and scheduled them out throughout the year (or even just over three months), suddenly committing twenty-four hours isn’t so daunting anymore! In fact it may actually be easier than breaking open a new book now would feel like because those twenty four hours are already accounted for in advance thanks to our earlier planning efforts.

Remember your goals and find ways to achieve them

Now that you know how to set goals, let’s take a look at some of the many ways that goal setting can help you achieve your dreams.

  • It helps us to remember our goals and find ways to achieve them.
  • It helps us visualize our goals.
  • It helps us set priorities for achieving each goal.
  • It measures our progress toward achieving each goal using tangible measurements like numbers or percentages instead of just feelings alone!

Look at your situation honestly, not naively or selectively

Every year I set goals for myself. I am pretty good at it too, but what I learned is that if you don’t set the right goals, or if you set a goal that’s not in line with your values and the things that mean most to you in life, then there is no real motivation to do anything about them.

I tend to make lists of things I would like to achieve during the year and then break them down into smaller steps so they are more manageable. And then when I look at these steps, they should all be aligned with my values and what matters most to me.

For example, if one of my main values is family time and spending quality time together as a family unit, then any goal that supports this would be considered a higher priority than something else (like booking flights for holidays).

The same goes for other areas of life such as health or finances – if there’s something on your list that doesn’t support your health or financial goals then it’s probably not worth doing anyway!

setting realistic goals

Setting realistic goals allows you to consider the realities of your life while still dreaming big

For example, going back to running a marathon, it’s realistic to also set goals around training and diet. You may decide to run five miles every day for three months, or eat healthier foods at every meal.

You can also be realistic about the amount of time it will take for your goal to be realized. If you plan on running a marathon in three months, it’s more realistic to set intermediate goals along the way—for example, running two miles per day for one week—and then celebrate even small successes along the way!

Setting realistic goals allows you to see how far away your dream feels when compared with where you are now and how much work needs to be done before it becomes reality.

Setting realistic goals for yourself

At the end of the day, regardless of whether your goal is big or small, it’s important to remain realistic in your expectations and to ensure that you are meeting that goal. Reaching your ultimate goal can be a tough challenge, which is why you should always set smaller goals along the way. Smaller goals may not always seem as impressive as some larger goals, but they help you with achieving the big-picture vision.

What Is Passive Income? Explaining This Important Idea

Have you ever heard of the phrase passive income? What is passive income anyway? Maybe you have. Perhaps you even know what it is. Most think of it as a pipe dream, though — something most bloggers, entrepreneurs, and business owners strive to achieve. However, it’s not reserved just for the few who hit it big in this world.

Passive income is a type of income that does not require active work

Passive income is a term that is thrown around a lot in the personal finance community. It’s not just a buzzword, though — it can be a very real way to make money online.

Passive income is money that you earn without having to work for it. With passive income sources, you’re making money while you sleep or after your workday ends. The idea of passive income is that you build something up once and then it runs on autopilot. Your time, labor, and expertise are used once to install passive income streams that generate money over long periods of time.

You could work for 40 hours a week or 50 weeks out of the year, and still end up with zero passive income. Passive income is all about building up the money you make without having to actually work for it.

For example, this blog takes me a lot of effort to write. However, one day I could be making passive income from advertisements on popular posts or affiliate links strategically placed.

Like this affiliate link here for TubeBuddy if you’re building a YouTube channel:

https://www.tubebuddy.com/Tracydeetips

There are many benefits to passive income

There are many benefits to passive income. The most obvious benefit is the lack of labor involved in its generation. You don’t have to work at your job to make money from it; you simply invest your money into a passive income stream and let it do all the work for you!

Another benefit is that you can spend more time with family or doing whatever else makes you happy. In fact, one of the biggest reasons people choose to invest in passive income streams is so they can spend more time with their loved ones while still making money!

What is passive income and another benefit? Passive income is also great because it allows you to accumulate wealth over time without having to work at all! This is especially true if you’re using a long-term strategy (such as real estate investing) rather than short-term strategies (like trading stocks).

what is passive income
Photo by Alexander Mils on Pexels.com

Passive income is often created by making an investment

What is passive income and how do you create it? Passive income is often created by making an investment. When you make an investment, you’re hoping the value of that investment will increase over time. It could be an investment into a tangible thing or investment in your time at the start.

Let’s say you buy some stock in a company that you think will grow over time. If it does, then when you sell that stock, you can pay off your original investment and then some — creating passive income for yourself.

Or maybe you buy a rental property and rent it out to tenants every month. If the rent is more than what it costs to own and maintain the property, then that’s considered passive income.

But passive income can also be earned in other ways — by selling your own products or services online, for example. The more time and effort you put into building passive income streams, the more money you’ll make from them over time.

What is passive income and is it for me?

In the end, passive income is still a bit of a niche subject. It’s not something that most people are going to be familiar with in the beginning, and it can be easily misunderstood as well.

The best thing you can do is educate yourself on it, look for examples of it as you encounter them, and determine for yourself whether or not passive income is for you. You may find that it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Personally, I’m trying to learn as much as possible about ways to make money in my sleep! Even if it requires a bit of investment with my time up front.

Reclaiming Deep Work Time: How To Improve Your Creative Brainpower

Finding deep work time can be a struggle for many of us.

On one of my favorite podcasts, Hidden Brain, a recent episode discussed how we are constantly distracted. And these constant distractions negatively impact our ability to engage in deep work.

Check out my other podcast recommendations for learning!

I actually wrote another blog post inspired by an earlier interview from a different podcast (The Next Big Idea) with Cal Newport. In that interview, they specifically focused on the distractions of email and its importance on deep work.

According to computer scientist, Cal Newport, “Deep Work” is a skill worth cultivating because very few people are doing it anymore. Deep work is what allows us to engage with our creative side and truly immerse ourselves in a project or activity. When we are constantly checking phones, responding to emails, or social media notifications, we cannot focus on tasks that take more brainpower.

I think this is why sites like focusmate have become popular.

So what are some things we can do to engage in more deep work?

deep work time
Photo by Tim Gouw on Pexels.com

How to reclaim your deep work time

Cal Newport says that deep work is a skill that will become more and more valuable by the day. This is especially true for those in the creative industry where ideas are your currency.

To achieve deep work you need to have a long stretch of time that’s free of distractions and obligations. The first step to reclaiming this time is to schedule it into your calendar just like any other meeting or appointment. Make sure you schedule this time at least a few days in advance so it doesn’t get bumped.

Once you’ve scheduled your deep work time, you’ll need to make sure you protect it by setting ground rules with yourself and others. These rules should be simple and actionable and help you avoid distractions during this time.

Some good rules might include not checking email or social media during your deep work session. Or, not responding to texts or calls unless they’re from an emergency contact. Whatever works best for you!

Let people know you’re unavailable during those hours

To reclaim deep work time, you need to let people know that you’ll be unavailable. This can be difficult for some people, especially if you’re a natural people-pleaser. You might worry about what it will look like if you turn down an invite to lunch or don’t immediately reply to emails. But the fact of the matter is that your work is more important than any of those things.

When someone asks me to do something during my deep work hours and I have to turn them down, I explain why I’m doing so. I say something like this: “I’m unavailable from 8 a.m. – noon on Friday mornings because those are my deep work hours. If the request can wait until the afternoon on Friday, I’d love to help out. Otherwise, would another day/time be better?” This way they understand what’s happening and they know they can reach out again later or at another time if they need me.

The key is to never apologize for your deep work time with phrases like “Sorry I didn’t respond earlier” or “Sorry I couldn’t make it.” These phrases make it sound like you’re apologizing for being unavailable. In reality, you’re apologizing for not answering their request right away—a totally different thing!

Put boundaries on your work environment

Many people have trouble staying focused on the task at hand. They get distracted by emails, phone calls, and other notifications.

The problem is that our brains are hardwired to seek out new information and experiences. This is especially true when we’re bored. This tendency is strong enough that it can even lead to anxiety if you don’t give your brain something to do.

But how can you focus on your work when so many distractions are trying to pull you away?

Put boundaries on your work environment. If you work from home or in an open-office plan, you may find it difficult to concentrate on your tasks because of interruptions from colleagues or neighbors. To block out distractions, close off parts of your home or office with a “do not disturb” sign. You can even use curtains or headphones while at home. You can also try using an app like Freedom or Self Control that blocks websites for a set amount of time (for example, 30 minutes).

Create an environment that promotes deep thinking. In order to get into a state of flow where deep thinking happens naturally, it’s important to create a physical space conducive to getting lost in thought.

Turn off all electronics and distractions

A few years ago, I was at my desk working on a particularly difficult problem. But, in the background, I had my email browser up and a notification popped through.

I realized that this was not the first time this had happened. Once I answered one email another would inevitably come through that needed my attention. So, to truly engage in deep work, email cannot be easily accessible.

The solution is simple: Turn off all electronics and distractions when you need to focus on deep work. This means turning off your phone (or switching it to airplane mode), putting away your laptop, and closing your browser tabs — everything except what you need to do your work uninterruptedly for the amount of time you’ve scheduled.

Takeaway: Show yourself you value your deep work time by creating strategies to maximize your focus!

Why I’m Teaching Myself How to Invest NOW

For all of my life, my mindset approaching money has been from a lack mindset. Learning how to invest was never a priority. The common phrases I am used to are:

“We can’t afford that.”

“It’s too expensive.”

“Don’t waste your money.”

“Money doesn’t grow on trees.”

Yet, at the same time charging things on credit cards was completely normal. Especially to have experiences. And for that, I am extremely grateful. I had the opportunity to do some amazing things in my childhood that instilled a love of travel in me even now.

But…

The decision to go to college and take out student loans is a huge part of my existence now even if I try to pretend they’re not there. I won’t be truly debt free until they are gone.

I wish I would have learned about investing sooner. I remember in 7th grade, we played a stock market game that was really fun. However, much of what I heard about it was that it was risky. And it’s for the wealthy people.

how to invest
Photo by Alexander Mils on Pexels.com

Now…

With the invention of YouTube, TikTok, SkillShare, and Coursera, just to name a few, there are more places than ever to teach yourself what you want to know.

And now, I want to know how to invest. I keep hearing about crypocurrencies, NFT’s, and just general bull and bear stock stuff. And I want to be able to understand it and make smart decisions that could set me up for a successful financial future.

A few months ago, I joined Motley Fool. While they send out way too many emails trying to get you to buy other products, I find much of the information useful in learning how to invest.

The reality is that it’s not a get rich quick scheme. It takes patience and long-term commitment to riding out the ups and downs of the market overall.

So, what have I been doing?

For the last year, I’ve been taking the stock recommendations from Motley Fool and other sources to build my portfolio. I follow money Tik Toker’s and YouTuber’s who share practical advice and tips for beginners.

I am building my portfolio by using Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA). Some of my stocks I bought at high prices at the beginning of 2021. Ever since, I have been investing $10-$25 per stock as the prices fluctuate. Hopefully, in the long term this will result in gains as my central price point takes into account the highs and lows.

Now, I still have so much to learn. And I’m eager to keep learning more about investing so that I can travel the world and work from anywhere. This is just one stream of passive income out of many that I plan to develop.

Subscribe to follow my journey and I’ll be sure to share any tips I learn along the way!

The Power of 22: Affirmations For a Positive Year

There really is something with the power of 22. I am writing this on February 22, 2022 (02-22-2022). This is an especially powerful date because it is a mirror number. What you send out into the universe is sent back to you. I truly believe this is an opportunity to manifest, reflect, and create the life that you want.

How powerful is the number 22?

22 has always had a special meaning for me because it is my birthday. Whenever I see the number 22, I get a feeling that all is well. And I feel fortunate because this is one of the most powerful numbers.

This number is associated with achieving your greatest aspirations. So don’t shy away when you see it. Embrace it and use it.

I decided to write down 22 affirmations for the day. I encourage you to do the same.
